Top # 1 – Karim Darwish
Karim Darwish is the current number 1 ranked male player in the world. Darwish was born on August 29, 1981 in Cairo, Egypt.
Darwish eased out Amr Shabana from the world number 1 rank after emerging victorious in the highly regarded 2008 Saudi International in addition to 3 major titles he won in 2008. On December of 2008, Darwish tied the knot with fellow squash player Engy Kheirallah. Married life brought Darwish stability and more maturity which has definitely made a positive impact on his game.
Competing in the 2008 World Open , he was defeated in the finals by fellow Egyptian player, Ramy Ashour, with a score of 11-5, 8-11, 4-11,5-11.
Darwish was equally successful in the junior squash circuit, winning the World Junior Championship in 2008, and in 1999, the British Junior Open.
Top # 2 – Gregory Gaultier
Grégory Gaultier currently occupies the 2nd spot in men’s squash world rankings. He was born in Épinal, France on December 2, 1982. He was the champion of the British Open in 2007, and placed second at the World Open in 2006 and 2007. Gaultier also had a distinguished career as a junior player, winning the British Open title once and the European junior squash championship for two consecutive years, in 2000 and 2001.
For some time, he played second fiddle to compatriot Thierry Lincou in the international squash circuit until he eventually overtook him in the world standings in 2007. His success on the court continued unabated until finally Gaultier reached the second spot in the world rankings in February of that same year.
Gaultier was declared champion in the 2009 Tournament of Champions. On his way to winning the crown, he beat World no. 1 Karim Darwish in the semifinals and Nick Matthew in the finals with a score of 11-9, (2-11), 11-8, 11-4.

Amr Shabana, an Eqyptian squash player, currently ranks number 3 in the world. He was born in the city of Cairo in July 20, 1970. Shabana turned pro in 1995 and was the top ranked player in 2006.
Shabana ended 2005 on a high note and continued his exemplary showing in the sport the following year by winning major titles, namely the Canadian Classic, the Tournament of Champions in New York, and the Bermuda PSA Classics.
